ClassLink MFA Setup

Multi-Factory Authentication (MFA) will prompt you to authenticate using an app on your phone, a text message, or to match an image from a list presented to you to verify your login for the first time on any given computer.  Once you successfully log in, you will be asked if you wish to remember the device for up to 30 days before you will need to do MFA again.  This applies to signing in to any of our web-based services that utilize ClassLink (including Google, gmail, drive, docs etc..), as well as the Chromebooks.

  1. At the MFA setup screen, you are given 3 options for MFA.
    1. Option 1 is "Mobile" (mobile authenticator app).  This is the recommended and most secure method for MFA, but if you are not familiar with using a mobile authenticator app, you can use one of the other two methods.
    2. Option 2 is "SMS" (text message).  You can provide a cell phone number that you will receive a text message containing a code you can enter to authenticate.  This is preferred over option 3.
    3. Option 3 is "Image".  This is the least secure method, but if you do not always have access to a phone or device with a mobile authenticator app, you can use this.  You will be provided with a list of images to pick from.  Choose one and remember it.  When prompted for MFA, pick the image that you chose during setup.
